About 200 participants from 37 countries attended the conference, presenting over 50 talks. France provided the largest contingent of delegates followed by Hungary, Poland, Germany, Italy, Spain and UK. Participants came also from USA, Canada and even from countries as far as New Zealand, Australia, Japan and South Africa. As ESA memberships were included in the registration fees, the number of ESA members has increased to 499 members. Delegates already members will have their membership extended for 2 additional years and new members will get a membership until December 2016.

A practical workshop for authors ("How to prepare an article for publishing") was organized by Elsevier on the last day, and animated by Dr. Antonio Delgado and Prof. Dr. Olaf Christen, Editors of the European Journal of Agronomy. This initiative has been appreciated by participants and will certainly be replicated at the next congress.

Several decisions have been taken during the General Assembly, among them:

- renewal of Jacques Wery as Executive Secretary and secretariat management by Agropolis International
- update of the 25 years old ESA statutes to be web voted by the board in 2015
- creation if budget allows it of a special student award at the next congress in 2016
- vote of the venue for the  2018 congress to be held in Switzerland and organized by AgroscopeAgroscope has been an ESA sustaining member for 4 years now.

I express our gratitude to our now past president, Peter Pepó, and to his team for this congress, their hospitality and for the discovery of Debrecen and its University (the 2nd largest in the country), the Hungarian agriculture, culture, food and wine. I hope to see you at the XIVth congress to be held in Edinburgh (Scotland), from September 5-9, 2016.

Jacques Wery
ESA Executive Secretary
