Dissolution of the ESA association

Further to the members' vote held from January 18 to February 8, 2017, and further to the decisions taken at the ESA General Assembly in Edinburgh, the dissolution of the ESA association and the continuation of ESA as a network  has been agreed.

As a follow up of the MoU which has been voted by ESA active members in February 2017 (available in the intranet section), the European Society for Agronomy (ESA) has now become a scientific network without any fees to pay and no more administrative secretariat and budget to manage. The network will be coordinated by a steering committee currently composed by the board of the former ESA association (Christine Watson, Christoph Carlen, Antonio Delgado and Jacques Wery) which will be renewed next year after the ESA 2018 Conference.

To remain active in the ESA network you just have to go to the website of our next conference in order to communicate with the steering committee ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and, we hope, to register for this conference: ESA 2018 (XVth conference) in Geneva Switzerland, August 27-31, 2018.

The ESA 2020 conference is already scheduled to take place in Sevilla (Spain). In agreement with the MoU, the remaining ESA budget will be entirely dedicated to the organisation of the 2018 and 2020 ESA conferences and more particularly to ensure reduced fees for the members of the former ESA association with fees payed for 2017 and beyond.

We will also be associated to the organisation of the 6th Farming Systems Design Conference March 24-26, 2019 in Colonia del Sacramento (Uruguay).

If you have any question or any proposal for the future of our ESA Scientific network you can contact the Steering Committee at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
